Biography

Ipeh Nur earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Printmaking, from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI), Yogyakarta. Her artistic practice ranges from black-and-white illustration and drawing to screen-printing, etching, murals, and resin sculpture. 


Her practice revolves around themes of personal experience, memories, and Indonesian history, creating interaction within her work as if they were real stages along with dialogues and plots. Her residency in Mandar, West Sulawesi, in 2019 brought her to investigate the rituals and traditions of the people, providing her with insights for her latest work. 


She has participated in solo shows such as Salimah, Redbase Foundation, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2019) and Banda, Kedai Kebun Forum, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2016). Ipeh also presented her work in numerous group exhibitions such as On Connectivity, Kohesi Initiatives, Yogyakarta, Indonesia; Voices of Longing Calling You Home, Broken White Project #11, Ace House Collective, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2022); 80 nan Ampuh, Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2019); Waktu dan Ingatan Tak Pernah Diam, Indonesian Visual Arts Archive, Yogyakarta, Indonesia; Pressing Matters, Framer Framed, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2018); Beyond Masculinity, Ark Galerie, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2017), and The 1st Jogja Miniprint Biennale, Museum Bank Indonesia Yogyakarta and Mien Gallery, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2014).
