Biography
Agugn graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design, Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Printmaking. He has been exploring various printmaking techniques, mostly linocuts and has comprised to push the boundaries between printmaking and installation. Fear, nature, and shamanistic culture have been his drive for making art with anthropomorphic and psychoanalysis perspectives.
His first solo exhibition was Natural Mystic, Bentara Budaya Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Solo, and Bali, Indonesia, as his first prize for “Triennale Seni Grafis Indonesia 4” (2012). His next solo shows, such as Unguarded Guards, Jogja Contemporary (2015); AGUGN: Printing Live in the Cosmos, Vinyl on Vinyl, Manila, Philippines (2016); and Molasses, Mizuma Gallery, Singapore (2017). He had a solo show held at the Machida City Museum Of Graphic Art, Tokyo (2020), which previously in 2019, he was invited to do an artist residency in Machida City, Tokyo. His recent solo show was Human Supremacy with kohesi Initiatives at Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
He has participated in numerous group exhibitions internationally, including Termasuk; contemporary art from Indonesia, Darren Knights Gallery, Sydney, Australia (2019), and Multilayered-New Print 2018/Summer, International Print Centre, New York, United States of America (2018). Another group exhibition he joined is Java-Art Energy, Institut des Culturesd’Islam, Paris in 2018, where he presented his installation that had been displayed in 2017 in ReEmergence, Selasar Sunaryo Artspace, Bandung, Indonesia.
