Dian Suci Rahmawati

Biography

Dian Suci Rahmawati’s practice lies in the intersection of domestic narratives and the political power of the states with the nation’s regime as the political background, often features women in conversation with herself about multifaceted issues. She focuses on the domestication of women’s politics, authoritarianism and fascism, patriarchy and capitalism, which take place in the domestic realm. In 2009, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the Indonesia Islamic University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. 

She has participated in group exhibitions including On Connectivity, Kohesi Initiatives, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2022); Tropenwelle, Broken White Project, Mizuma Gallery, Singapore (2022); and Biennale Jogja XV Equator: ‘Do We Live in the Same Playground’, Jogja National Museum, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2019); Aku Pingin Crita Dawa, Nanging Apa Kowe Kuwawa? Aku Kuwawa?, Kedai Kebun Forum, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2018); Katanya sih, Katanya, LIR Space, Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2016). In 2021, Dian has awarded the Gold Winner, Established Artist Category at the UOB Painting of the Year Indonesia.
